When all the energy is gathered around a long table. BEE meeting_Palma

The International Conference on Built Environment Education was held in Palma de Mallorca in April 2015. Specialists from twelve countries convened to exchange architectural education initiatives. Participants represented Germany, Australia, Egypt, France, Austria, Russia, Costa Rica, Finland, Bulgaria, Romania, Sweden, and Spain.

The two-day meeting introduced new working group members who shared innovative funding approaches, including bird-house design contests. Romania's curriculum development was highlighted, incorporating architecture as an optional subject. The group discussed regional challenges, such as Egypt treating architectural education as secondary due to systemic rigidity, and Costa Rica's technology access limitations.

Comparisons were drawn to a 2012 Vienna meeting, demonstrating progress despite limited institutional support. The group continues working to include youth in urban design and development processes. A walking tour of Palma concluded the gathering, allowing participants to experience the city firsthand.

The Golden Cubes Awards data revealed significant reach: the first edition impacted approximately 375,000 children and young people across 50 nominated projects worldwide.
